This is fully deserving of a reblog as I just finished this book a few weeks ago, although my dustcover was nowhere near as beautiful. If you haven’t read Murakami before then DO! His writing is equal parts lyrical wisdom and fantastical wonderment. Read ‘Sputnik Sweetheart’ for Sumire; the gorgeously textured lead character, trenchcoat-smothered, chain-smoking young tomboy coming to terms with her sexuality. Miu, her love interest and boss, is driven yet haunted, striving yet bound by her past. Or read ‘Sputnik Sweetheart’ simply to find out why he chose that title.
